Welcome to my (Second) Life
No, not QUITE literally. But I do spend way more time on there than I probably should.
If you’re not familiar with Second Life, it’s an online roleplaying game, sort of like The Sims – if The Sims were about 500 times cooler. You create your character and where you go next is up to you.
It doesn’t cost anything to play SL, and there are TONS of things you can get for free. On the other hand, it’s possible to spend quite a bit. SL uses a currency called Linden, which you can buy using a credit card or Paypal (as of the time of this writing, 1,000 Linden would cost you $4.15). There are also various ways to win Linden, and there are all kinds of places you can work to earn some.
I could go on and on, but the best way to experience SL is to actually EXPERIENCE it.
Fair warning – all this coolness takes serious graphics and memory capabilities. I also can’t imagine trying to get around in SL on a dial-up connection. If you’re having lag or crash issues in SL, post a comment and I’ll see if I can help you out with graphics settings.
And if you run into Victoria Sabra on SL, say hi – that’s me.
